Cultural Showcase - River Landing Amphitheatre

The Cultural Showcase will be held at the River Landing Amphitheatre between 5:00 and 9:30 pm each night (Friday and Saturday). This venue will feature a line-up of some of Saskatoon's most talented cultural performers, representing a host of different influences that make up the diverse fabric of Saskatoon.The showcase is free of charge and food vendors will be set up nearby where you can purchase food and beverages.

The River Landing venue is a great place to catch the fireworks which are set off at 9:30 pm both nights (Friday & Saturday).

CULTURAL SHOWCASE BIO'S:

Allyson James- Loth: Allyson James-Loth has been involved in music and performance for a number of years. More recently, she has been a frequent performer at numerous local café's, community events, open mics and festivals with her good friend, Mike Bauche, as part of the acoustic/indie duo "Mike & Ally."  

Dallas Boyer: Dallas is a 20 year old Metis and old time fiddle player from Saskatoon who is accompanied by his father Phil on guitar. The Duo recently won “Metis Got Talent” where they got the opportunity to open for country singer Michelle Wright.

Def SOL Productions: def SOL Productions is a professional dance company that is dedicated to advancing hip hop dance and culture in Saskatchewan by providing opportunities for education, training and performance. Their professional crews have opened for acts such as the Jabbawackeez, Supa Crew, Supreme Soul, Fanny Pak and recording artists NAS and Joe Budden.

Dory Cook and Friends: Dory Cook, a Cree Metis singer/songwriter, is joined by multi-talented artists Brenda McKnight and Nakul Aloni to create uplifting music and energy for all age groups to enjoy.

Espiritu Mediterraneo Dancers: Espiritu Mediterraneo Dancers are a community oriented dance group dedicated to promoting the dance rhythms of the Eastern Mediterranean. They will be offering a medley of five songs from Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, and Mediterranean Gypsy Culture

German Junior Folk Dancers: these colorful and lively dancers perform throughout the province and have become a tradition at multicultural festivals throughout the summer. Their repertorie includes about 25 different dances that have been handed down through the years!

Living Sky Taiko: Living Sky Taiko ("TIE-co") was started in February 2009 by James Bykowy. A small group of people with passion for performance formed Living Sky Taiko and have performed at events like the Canada Day Celebrations, the Dragonboat races, and the Saskatoon Fringe Festival. Living Sky’s performance is becoming recognized as an exciting new artform at various Saskatoon events!

Oriental Dance Arts: Oriental Dance Arts of Saskatoon, formed in the mid-1980's, explores and celebrates some of the dances and culture of the Middle East, Near East, and Asia Minor. This group embraces the multicultural diversity of dance from these eastern regions, while developing exciting new ways to present these dance arts to western audiences.

Stephen Maguire: From Belfast, N. Ireland, Stephen Maguire has recently opened for Grammy winners B.J Thomas and Nanci Griffith. His new album, Irish Soul, is being played on the radio in the U.S., Australia, Germany, Ireland, and the UK.
