Donate Your Gently Used Shoes at the Saskatoon Fireworks Festival
Shoe Donation Program
Donate your gently used running shoes to the Brainsport & PotashCorp Fireworks Festival Shoe Donation Program. We will have a drop-off site beside the Bike Valet & Tap Water station, located next to the Remai Arts Centre. The drop-off will be available both Friday and Saturday between 5:00 and 9:30 pm.
BRAINSPORT collects gently used shoes from customers and staff and provides them to groups or individuals in need. Last year alone Brainsport delivered over 400 pairs of gently used shoes through St. Mary's School right here in Saskatoon.
Brainsport has sent shoes as far away as Kenya, Mozambique, Peru, and - closer to home - northern Saskatchewan communities and local inner city groups. Charity groups going to overseas relief projects will often take the collected shoes to distribute to persons in need.
Want to know where YOUR shoes might end up?
In 2007, Brian Michasiw of Brainsport had the opportunity to go to Kenya to stay and train. At this time, Brian gave soon-to-be Olympic legend Kip Keino a pair of gently used running shoes. In 2008, Kip won silver at the Beijing Olympics! This was definately a highlight of Brian's career and for the Shoe Donation Program.
